Fiorella (Fio) and Colby’s appreciation for wine began in very different places. Fio grew up in Peru, where her great-grandfather was an early producer of wine and pisco in the 1930s—sparking childhood memories of grape stomping and time spent around the family’s amphoras. Colby was raised in California, where family camping trips along the Rubicon Trail were often paired with great wine, and where he proudly took on the role of “sommelier” at a young age.They met serendipitously at an Irish pub while Fio was attending Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and through frequent visits, their connection to the Central Coast—and Paso Robles—began to grow.
After building careers in the Bay Area—Colby in cybersecurity startups and Fio supporting NASA wind tunnels—they chose to leave behind the fast pace for a more intentional life on the Central Coast.In 2018, they purchased a 33-acre property on Paso Robles’ west side. What began as a lifestyle shift quickly evolved into a deeper vision as they recognized the site’s potential for growing exceptional fruit. With its calcareous soils, ideal climate, and south-facing slopes, the vineyard was planted and their winemaking journey began.
Today, Fio, a UC Davis–trained winemaker, leads production in collaboration with their consulting team, while Colby manages the vineyard with a focus on precision and care.“Rockbound” reflects the many ways their lives are tied to the land—from a favorite alpine lake near Tahoe to their love of off-roading the Rubicon, and now to the rocky soils of their Paso Robles vineyard. Rockbound Cellars is a reflection of their shared passion for craftsmanship, place, and the pursuit of exceptional wines.

Born in El Durazno, Durango, Mexico, Aron moved to Paso Robles at 14 and began working in local vineyards, building a deep foundation in the region from an early age. He gained extensive experience with Rhône varietals at Tablas Creek and GlenRose Vineyards. Aron later managed vineyards for Denner Vineyards and McPrice Myers, establishing expertise across both Rhône and Bordeaux varieties.
As Rockbound Cellars’ vineyard consultant, Aron has been instrumental since day one—guiding critical decisions on where and what to plant based on the property’s soils, slopes, and microclimates. His thoughtful, site-driven approach continues to shape the long-term vision of the vineyard. Colby leads day-to-day vineyard management, working hand in hand with Aron to ensure meticulous care throughout the year. Together, their focus on minimal chemical use, and proactive farming practices helps the vines thrive and produce fruit that reflects the true character of the Rockbound site.
